-born to a musician and historian, lana theresa keller's upbringing was what one might say is romantic. the backdrop of vienna left no shortage of culture or inspiration. as a young child, she was shuffled along from museum to museum, all sorts of art exhibits, attending more concerts and orchestral performances than she could ever count. the love of music and the past is something that has always been engrained in her.
-her mother landed a job as a history professor at ucla, prompting the family to uproot from their comfortable european lifestyle and end up back in cheryl's homeland. the family settled in huntington beach when lana was eight years old.
-her father easily found work performing and giving violin lessons in the southern california area. lana knows deep down he longs to move back to austria, but he managed to adjust fairly well despite the desire.
-as a transplant in america, lana was a bit shy. she was comfortable with her family and their lifestyle at home but life in socal was quite different. within a few years though, she managed to find her footing and place. she was still sometimes the odd girl who carried her violin case everywhere, but with encouragement from both of her parents, she learned to let most things roll off her shoulders.
-knowing she wanted to follow in one of her parents' footsteps, she had a difficult time deciding if she should focus her college studies on history or music. history seemed perhaps more logical but music was always her first love and with the approval from her mother and father, she took the plunge and applied at usc with the intention of majoring in music.
-during her latter days of high school, she began posting videos of herself covering different popular songs on her violin. a cover of t.i.'s "whatever you like" went modestly (so she says) viral and her channel took off after that. to this day, she still posts videos of her own original songs as well as covers and collaborations with other musicians. her youtube account is lana75.
-in college, she landed a job at a polygraph office answering phones and scheduling clients. while she thought it was just going to be something short-term, she still works there to this day. it's boring and sometimes (mostly) frustrating, but it pays most of her bills. she hopes to get out of it soon but nothing better has come up yet.
-ideally, she'd love to teach music for a living. learning violin from her father is one of her most treasured memories and experiences, and if she can provide that to even just one other person, it would be life-making.
-she fluently speaks german, as well as a little bit of italian. there's a mix of germlish spoken with her parents but they are mainly the only ones she gets to flex her german muscles with.
-she adopted a puppy named felix a few years ago and he's pretty much her world. she dotes on him and dresses him in ugly christmas sweaters and halloween costumes like obnoxious people do, and she doesn't regret it at all.
